517. Guided Moose Hunt During the Archery Season in Alberta
This is one of the most productive moose bowhunts
To be able to hunt moose in our areas during the rut you have to do it with your bow. There is very limited resident hunting pressure and very limited non-resident tags are available. The Moose generally rut from mid September to mid October. There is over 9000 square miles of hunting area between three zones. The preferred habitat for moose include muskegs, brushy meadows and willow bottoms where larger areas of timber are found particularly when this habitat is bordered by lakes, bogs, streams and ponds. There is a misconception that moose are not too smart and are easily harvested. Don’t be fooled by this, their keen sense of hearing and smell usually keep them out of harms way. We had a 55% success rate on Moose for 2005. Methods for hunting moose are from tree stands or by spot and stalk. Harvesting one of these giants with your bow is an extreme treat and bulls in our area generally score in the 30” to 50” range.

A Word From Your Guide
We operate a small personal outfitting business dedicated to the serious bow hunting. There is no bigger challenge than that of harvesting a big game animal with your bow. It is the small details that make a bow hunting experience successful and it is those details that we pays extra attention to. Our camp is located 75 miles west of Edmonton, AB on the North side of Chip Lake, home of the world record non-typical mule deer. The areas hunted in are WMU’s 336, 337 and 348. These zones are located in the foothills region of the province and are the transition

between the farm land and the foothills of the mountains. The land is a mixture of rolling alfalfa fields nestled between large tracts of spruce and pine forests as well as oat and barley crops bordered by rivers and swamps. The wildlife is plentiful and these areas are well known for the large deer, moose and elk that they produce. We can accommodate any hunter and depending on tag availability, will tailor any hunt to fit your needs
