Hunting Bow

The hunting bow has been one of the most widely used projectile discharging devices throughout time only recently being surpassed by the huge increase in gun production in the last hundred years. The appeal of the bow hunt has not wavered however, more and more people are being taken in to the adventure.

A hunting bow can come in a few different basic configurations but be styled in wildly different ways. The most common bow used today is the compound bow which has a cam and pulley that are connected to the bowstring. After the initial draw weight has been pulled that weight is reduced significantly by the cam allowing the hunter to hold the arrow drawn much easier.

Other styles of the hunting bow are re-curve bows and traditional bows or longbows. A re-curve is more popular than the traditional bow because it is springier and the most accurate of all bows. The difference is the curve at the top and the bottom of the bow while a traditional bow is strait and only slightly arched over its entire length. They are capable bows but require more strength and finesse than other bows. They are very popular among purists who hand make their own.
