Semi-Guided Bear Hunt OVER BAIT in Ontario
Our Bear Management Area of 103 km2 or 40 sq.mi. surrounds Tomiko Lake. All our tree stands are accessible by ATV/Quad, some by car and always a 5-15 minutes walk. Distance to the bait is 10 to 25 yards for archery, 30 to 50 yards for rifle. Using meat scraps, sweets, fruit and honey, baiting starts in July. We take only a maximum of six hunters per week, to allow everyone a good chance at a bear. Successful hunters are assisted with the transport, skinning and freezing of their bear. Please bring any hunting licence from your state or proof of a Hunters Safety course to get a 2007 Ontario Black Bear Hunting licence. You will need hunters orange, warm clothing, rain gear and boots, GPS or compass, flashlight and large coolers to transport your bear. Fishing rod and tackle box for the deluxe bear hunt

Okimot Lodge is located 240 miles north of Toronto and 270 miles east of Sault Ste Marie, in North East Ontario, Canada, in the Wildlife Management Unit #41 (Mattawa to Sudbury and North of Hwy 17 to Temagami Lake).

Bring your quad so you are more flexible and it saves you long walks. Older bears approach the bait only when there is no new scent. Scent-lock suits and scent neutralizing soap and spray are very important.
